I sort-of agree; I think the idea of the world just leaping into communal action is a stretch (and stories like this skip over the "Apocalypse Deniers" who would spring up to claim it's all a false flag, but then again we've never faced an immediate ELE so who knows what might actually happen. The real problem, I think, is the handwave of "sure all countries got together to cooperate" instead of delving into the complexities of actually *getting* that cooperation. On the other hand, who wants to read 300 pages of bureaucrats negotiating?
I loved this book. The best of Andy Weir's work, IMO. My favorite? The development of a shared vocabulary between Rocky and Ryland.
I did enjoy it very much; just wanted him to ditch the flashback structure sooner!
