I love these books. I use them with my young, student writers and recommend them to all my writer friends. These book genuinely helped me get my debut novel to publication (coming January 2024). So excited you are continuing the series.
I thought about asking Janet if you might provide me a blurb for my book. But then I got really scared that you might send me a cat instead. And then she wrote a blog post that blurbs are not that valuable. My publicist doesn't seem to think much of them either. Anyhow, I really did get a lot of encouragement from your Writing without Rules series. It got my head out of my backside all the way from stuck in the trenches to three book deal.
That's amazing to hear. I don't think blurbs do much, either, to be honest. I've never been in a bookstore and thought, oh, this guy thinks this book is great, I should buy it.
100% agree. Also, I notice that often the blurbs are from authors from the same publisher or agency so I don't really take those seriously anyhow. It almost seems they are written under duress or something. I am more moved by a friend telling me - hey, this book is great. Word of mouth is everything, I feel like in the book world.
